The most meaningful friendships exist beyond space and time. Soul connections can resurface at any moment, and any amount of time spent apart fades away in an instant. Such has been the case with New Constellations, the indie-pop collaboration between lifelong friends Harlee Case and Josh Smith, whose infectious forthcoming studio debut, It Comes In Waves, is set to arrive in May 2026 via Nettwerk Music Group. As they built up speed, New Constellations released early singles like 2022’s “Think It Over” and 2023’s “Your Own Parade” piecemeal, balancing music with other jobs to pay the rent. But as 2025 began, Harlee and Josh renewed their commitment to the band, which had been gaining traction via the shimmering, synth-soaked 2021 single “Hot Blooded,” which found an unexpected fan in Pedro Pascal when the actor used the track to accompany an Instagram video. Amassing more than 150 million streams, “Hot Blooded” also did serious numbers on YouTube, where its NPR Tiny Desk submission video earned over one million views. Comprising 13 tracks that shift from ethereal dream-pop to full-blown dance-pop, It Comes In Waves reflects the band’s overarching view on life: that to exist is to move through an oceanic spectrum of feelings.
