This song has always been a hugely joyful and hopeful one for us, and is guaranteed to make us smile and dance. It is a good kind of infectious – which some may even remember from the movie Ghostbusters 2 (sung by Howard Huntsberry) as a force to combat New York’s evil miasma and get ‘positive energy flowing’. It was written by Gary Jackson, Raynard Miner, and Carl Smith, and originally recorded by the amazing Jackie Wilson in 1967, who we’ve (loosely) modelled our version on.

Our inspiration has been the first relaxation of a very long winter lockdown in the UK. The kids are finally back in primary/secondary schools after months stuck at home. This means a chance to actually get some work done, to get them grounded again with some steps towards ‘normal’ life, and soon they’ll get to see grandparents for the first time since September 2020. It is dedicated to the teachers (and fellow lecturers) who have crawled towards an Easter vacation break that has never been more deserved and needed.
