SHIMMER 100% (Ft. Zoink on DeathLink!) // 12 Demons of Christmas #5 (2024)

Welcome to the 5th Demon of Christmas for 2024, as part of EVW's annual series! For this one, @Zoink and I will be completing Shimmer by amplitron on DeathLink, which means that when one of us fails, we both die, making it many orders of magnitude harder.

This was so SO much harder than we expected it to be. Zoink and I both agree that our DeathLink completion would place around #14 on the list (Easier than Menace, Harder than Firework). I believe this also took more days to complete than the previous 2 levels I completed for this series COMBINED (arcturus and SWI). We were getting really annoyed by the end, and I think Zoink almost blocked me when I told him we had been using the wrong copy the entire time.

I think the level itself is really cool, and the part where you go up into space at the end is especially awesome. The gameplay is pretty fun as well, but the balancing makes this level really frustrating sometimes. It's pretty much carried by really awkward chokepoints. Particularly, the 17% ship, the entire beginning of the drop, and the 83% ship stood out. The clicks in these parts are heavily reliant on how your setup is as you go into them and I found it really hard to get consistent at that.
