Savannah Guthrie Breaks Down In Tears In 1st Intv Since Mom Nancy’s Disappearance

Savannah Guthrie broke down in tears while describing the “agony” she has been feeling since her mother Nancy Guthrie disappeared. During a clip from her first interview since the 84-year-old was reported missing on Feb. 1, Guthrie explained to former “TODAY” show co-anchor Hoda Kotb how she is kept up at night thinking about what her mom experienced. “Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable. And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night. Every night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable. But those thoughts demand to be thought,” she said as she fought back tears. Guthrie added that she “will not hide her face” and pleaded for her mother’s return. “She needs to come home now.” After the clip of the emotional exchange between Guthrie and Kotb aired during the March 25 “TODAY” broadcast, Kotb, who has been filling in for Guthrie, announced to viewers that the full interview will air in two parts, on March 26 and 27, adding how she was in awe of her friend’s strength for being able to have the conversation.
