READ FRAME TYPE FILM | AUTHORS IN CONVERSATION

Author discussion from the launch event for our first book, Read Frame Type Film: Or, Written on the Screen, held at the Centre Pompidou, Paris in May 2025. The discussion, which was bookended by screenings of Joyce Wieland's SAILBOAT and Morgan Fisher's STANDARD GAUGE, features authors Enrico Camporesi, Catherine de Smet, and Philippe Millot, who bring to life the book's structure and intention.

READ FRAME TYPE FILM, our debut book, is a beautifully designed work exploring the interplay of images and text at the intersection of film, visual history, and design. It captures the tactile beauty of cinema through stunning new photographs of original celluloid prints and film strips, showcasing typography in 24 hand-picked films from the Centre Pompidou collection. Co-written by Enrico Camporesi, Catherine de Smet, and Philippe Millot, with a preface by Robin Kinross and an essay by Pierre Alferi, the book is a collaboration between MUBI Editions and Éditions du Centre Pompidou, designed by SpMillot.
