Why wasn't Wedge Antilles at the Battle of Scarif?

Why didn’t Wedge Antilles go to Scarif along with the rest of Red Squadron? The real reason is because in A New Hope he is clearly reacting to seeing the Death Star for the very first time with his line, look at the size of that thing! So it wouldn’t make sense for him to see it in Rogue One. So the decision was made to leave Wedge out of the fight, but you can hear the voice of David Ankrum, who voiced the character in A New Hope, briefing flight crews over the intercom at the Rebel base. So Wedge is technically in the movie. Later materials have stated that Wedge was recovering from an injury, and wasn’t cleared to fly at Scarif. By the time of the Battle of Yavin he had either recovered, or the Rebellion was desperate enough for pilots that he was allowed to fly. #starwars #rogueone
