Alright, the HBO Max "Velma" show is… how do I say this nicely— bad. It’s bad. The first season isn’t over yet, as of recording this there’s only the first four episodes out, but from what we’ve seen so far the only thing that’s carrying this show is the art style and the animation department. But then, despite this, the show disrespects its own animation, and animation as an art form.

And then you compare that to Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, a movie that was targeted at children and yet still has all of these complex themes and ideas and respects the viewer, to *Velma*, an adult series that’s essentially making fun of the viewer for watching it, is kind of telling of the industry and the state of how people view animation as a whole. So many people view animation as "just for kids" and I think that's ridiculous. Animation is for everyone. So let's talk about it.

With great power, there must also come great responsibility: https://ukraine.ua/news/stand-with-ukraine/ https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/ https://www.equalitytexas.org
