Greetings, my fellow Gooners! It’s me MT and welcome back to the Heavy Spoilers show! You’re about to watch a breakdown of the 1985 film “The Goonies”! That’s right! I went on a quest of my own to find all the fun little details and behind the scenes facts about this cult classic…so grab some popcorn, do the Truffle Shuffle while it’s popping and let’s get into it!

The Goonies was directed by Richard Donner, famous for directing the original Superman film from 1978 as well as Omen from 1976. And, of course, the script was written by film industry legend Stephen Speilberg…coming off the popularity of films like 1982’s “ET: The Extraterrestrial” as well as the first two Indiana Jones films from 1981 and 1984. The Goonies was released on June 7th, 1985…and because of that June 7th has been declared to be Goonies Day to the people of Astoria, Oregon…where the movie takes place.
