Greg Alba, John Humphrey & Jon Maturan react to and review Ted Season 2, Episodes 5 & 6 — “The Sword in the Stoned” and “Roe v. Weed.” The Peacock prequel series from Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, The Orville) continues exploring the chaotic teenage years of John Bennett and his foul-mouthed best friend Ted, blending outrageous comedy with surprisingly heartfelt coming-of-age moments.

In “The Sword in the Stoned,” Ted and John Bennett (Max Burkholder — Parenthood, The Purge) audition for their school’s production of Camelot in hopes of padding John’s college applications. Although they land minor guard roles with no lines, John begins bonding with the show’s star Erin, only for stage fright—and some potent pot brownies from Blaire Bennett (Giorgia Whigham — 13 Reasons Why, The Punisher)—to send John and Ted into a disastrous panic that derails the entire production. Meanwhile, Matty Bennett (Scott Grimes — The Orville, American Dad!) takes a job at Dunkin’ Donuts with Susan Bennett (Alanna Ubach — Legally Blonde, Euphoria), hoping to make extra money, but things get awkward when former President Bill Clinton unexpectedly visits the shop. Episode 6, “Roe v. Weed,” tackles heavier themes when Blaire discovers she’s pregnant after a one-night stand and decides to have an abortion despite pressure from her family. As tensions rise, John and Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane — Family Guy, Ted) attempt to help cover the cost in their own ridiculous way—by robbing the school’s vending machine—while also distracting protestors outside the clinic. The episode balances Ted’s signature irreverent humor with emotional character moments as Blaire, Susan, and the rest of the family grapple with the difficult decision.
