The long-awaited Scream 2022 reboot aka Scream 5 will kick off 2022's slate of horror movies eleven years after Scream 4. The fifth movie in the franchise will be the first without horror movie legend Wes Craven. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Dewey Riley (David Arquette), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Judy Hicks (Marley Shelton) will be back in the mix alongside a new group of Ghostface targets played by Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, Mikey Madison as Amber Freeman, and Sonia Ammar. The new Ghostface who wears a scream metallic mask has a connection to Woodsboro's past and present as the Scream movie from Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett blend the different eras of the franchise.

While the new Scream will bring plenty of new faces to the franchise, the movie also boasts a plethora of characters who have previously taken on Ghostface and survived, including Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell, all reprising their roles from Scream 1996, Scream 2, Scream 3 and Scream 4. Roger L. Jackson will also return to provide his vocal talents to the Ghostface mask, reprising his role from the previous Scream movies and the subsequent Scream anthology series. While details are still scarce on what the scream 5 reaction will be, the most recent Scream trailer confirms that the new Ghostface is targeting relatives of previous killers in a twist on the franchise's formula scream 6 kirby.

The scream 2022 trailer breakdown, scream 5 reviews and recent Scream posters declare the killer is among the large cast, inviting viewers to begin guessing who it is wearing the new scream metallic mask. The original Scream helped revitalize the horror genre, but with many fantastic modern slashers like Halloween Ends keeping the genre alive, 2022's Scream will need to do something fresh to help find its place in modern film. So far, though, the scream reaction has been impressive, with several great posters, videos and teasers hinting that the latest entry in the franchise will do the Scream legacy justice scream 6 cast.

Scream has always told its serial killer story with a cheeky wink, especially when compared to Craven's more traditional horror movies, so it's great to see the latest entry in the franchise is sticking to this formula that works so well. Honoring Craven is clearly an aspect that Bettinelli-Olpin is keen on achieving in his vision of the Scream franchise, and these fun and horrifying posters solidify that the director is on the right track. Ghostface will find his next victims when Scream arrives only in theaters January 14, 2022.
