James Conrad (played by Tom Hiddleston) is back as the former SAS tracker who made it out alive after Skull Island. He’s been trying to tell everyone for years that Kong is not the biggest threat to humanity — there is something else that we don’t know about yet. When seismic activity indicates that the ecosystem on Skull Island is collapsing and Kong is moving towards populated cities looking for new territory, he is asked to join the team again. Dr. Elena Ross (played by Natalie Portman), a paleobiologist studying the behavior of ancient Titans, believes that Kong is not just being aggressive randomly, he is responding to something much bigger that is happening under the ocean floor. What I think will be interesting about this second film is that instead of us seeing people entering monster territory, we will see monsters entering our civilized lives, and that raises a lot of questions about who has the right to be on Earth when there are multiple apex species competing for top dog status.

From a visual standpoint, the film will be amazing. Kong will be shown as even larger and more damaged than before, and you will see how he goes from being the king of Skull Island to being a displaced animal searching for a safe haven in a place where he can barely fit into buildings. There will be incredible scenes showing Kong navigating the modern world, which is completely unprepared for his size. You will see tank battles that seem so small compared to Kong that they appear to be annoying him more than anything. As Kong is able to find his way around a city for the first time, you will also see incredible images of him finding things to destroy because he has never seen them before. Dr. Ross will bring a sense of wonder and curiosity to her research, and at the same time she will have a deep-seated fear of what is going on with Kong’s migration patterns that leads him to leave his home. She will raise scary questions about what could possibly drive the largest and strongest land predator in the world to run away from everything he has ever known.

The film will show how the effects of global warming lead to the loss of homes for both humans and animals. We will get to see how a monster movie lens can show us the consequences of climate change that result in the displacement of creatures that are considered apex predators and how they react when they encounter other living beings that were once native to their migration paths.

You will see epic battles with kaiju action and destruction as Kong tries to protect himself from humans who are attempting to stop him while he searches for a safe place to live that does not exist anymore. You will see an emotional side of Kong as a king without a kingdom struggling to survive in a world that cannot accommodate his existence. The film will build to something that will make Kong look like a protector of Earth and not a destroyer when something that has been hiding in the depths of the ocean comes up to the surface and threatens all life on Earth.
