The Miramax Halloween TV Series Is going back to the original John Carpenter Debra Hill film. The small screen slasher will be a total creative reset following the Blumhouse reboot trilogy.

Just in time for halloween 2024, Miramax locked down the halloween TV rights for the Michael Myers franchise and immediately announced their plans for a halloween cinematic universe. The first part of that new look at the series begins with a TV show, though few details were divulged at the time.

Months later, many details are still unknown, but it is envisioned as a complete reset that only leaves the events of the 1978 original intact. This is similar to Blumhouse's recent trilogy of films, which ignored the continuity of the sequels, though there was a nod to 1982's divisive Halloween 3.

Almost nothing is known about the Miramax Halloween TV series. Though it hasn't been confirmed, it can be assumed that it will focus on Michael Myers as he continues his reign of terror over the citizens of Haddonfield, Illinois.

Considering there are thirteen movies in the Halloween franchise, stripping things back to the basics of the game-changing original could prove to be a very wise idea, given that the most recent reboot wrapped things up pretty neatly.

Miramax and Trancas co-owning the Halloween rights also means that this television show could spawn an entire new universe of Halloween stories and characters. Producer and CEO of Trancas, Malek Akkad, has worked on Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later, Halloween: Resurrection, Halloween 2007 and Halloween 2 2009, so he hopefully has a bunch of ideas up his sleeve.

Whatever’s in store for the Halloween tv series, I'm excited – it’ll be Michael Myers’ first small screen outing, joining his slasher pals Chucky, who’s killing it over on SyFy and USA, and Jason, who is getting his own Crystal Lake prequel series, via A24 and Peacock in 2025.
