After a lengthy lawsuit with Sean S. Cunningham, Victor Miller obtained the rights to use any material from the original Friday the 13th film (which he wrote). But will we see Jason Voorhees in the A24 Crystal Lake series?

YES!!

Creator Bryan Fuller and his team are legally able to use ANY of the existing elements from the franchise that they desire for the new Crystal Lake series. Fuller teased this week that we’ll very likely see Jason in several different forms as well as Adrienne King from the original film.

The title also allows them to explore the history of the Camp Crystal Lake itself over the years, filling in some mysteries left unanswered by the horror movie franchise. The new crystal lake series may even attempt to explain how the lake played a role in granting Jason Voorhees his signature supernatural strength.

Despite the distance from the sequels, fans of Friday the 13th will have much to look forward to with this crystal lake prequel series. Fuller and A24 promise to bring a fresh take on the slasher series while staying true to what makes Jason Voorhees a horror movie icon.
