While scoring hits like B-Lovee’s “My Everything” that spoke directly to that musical movement, he continued honing his craft and building his self-described “Slizzy sound” with fellow locals like sexy-drill standouts Chow Lee and FLEE on his own projects like 2021’s Nirvana. Signified by a defiant drop (“And this beat from Cash, not from YouTube”), his edgy, ultramodern production differentiated him from the pack and soon made him one of the most in-demand collaborators in rap music at large.

Drake and 21 Savage brooded over his buzzing, bass-driven “Calling for You,” while Trippie Redd floated over the Jersey-club-adjacent “Pray 4 Us,” to name just two examples of his broadening appeal. Capitalizing on that undeniable momentum, he increasingly stepped out from behind the boards to appear as a featured artist on cuts like Don Toliver’s jittery flex “ATTITUDE” and A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s R&B-inflected “Body.” Originally a duet with Bay Swag, his enticing single “Fisherrr” became inescapable once Ice Spice hopped on the remix. Billed as his proper debut album, PLAY CASH COBAIN laid out his agenda by uniting the threads of his prior successes; he heads up the multigenerational posse cut “problem” and portrays the hood lothario with ease on “act like.” In 2024, he was named an Apple Music Up Next artist.
